Climate Change Adaptation Specialist (Team Leader)

International Solutions LLC seeks a qualified candidate to serve as our candidate for the Climate Change Adaptation Specialist/Team Leader position in our proposal to the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to provide technical assistance to carry out a “Climate Change Risk Assessment” in five cities in northern Sindh province: Sukkur, Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas, Larkana, and Nawabshah. 

Responsibilities

As the Team Leader (TL), the Climate Change Adaptation Specialist will be responsible for the quality delivery of all outputs, managing the team, and reporting to ADB on project activities and progress. Among other tasks, the TL/Climate Change Adaptation Specialist will be responsible for climate modeling and climate change risk assessment for the five cities in Sindh Province. This will involve conducting robust technical analyses using the most appropriate historical data, downscaled climate projections, geospatial data, and a comprehensive review of relevant studies and ongoing initiatives. The TL/Climate Change Adaptation Specialist will work in close coordination with key stakeholders in Sindh Province and the five participating cities. 

Qualifications

The Specialist should hold a postgraduate degree in climate science, climate change, engineering, environmental studies, or a related discipline, and have at least 12 years of experience in climate modeling, climate adaptation assessment and planning, as well as in urban engineering solutions and design standards for green urban infrastructure. A sound understanding of geospatial data analysis and broad climate knowledge, including urban climate mitigation solutions, is required. Familiarity with the context of developing Asian cities and the ADB/Joint MDB approach to Type 2 adaptation project design is beneficial. Direct regional and country experience is considered an advantage.
